Dedra (835__), 01.1989 - 07.1999
The Lancia Dedra (internal designation: 835) is a model from the Lancia brand; it was built from April 1989 to January 2000. The previous model was the Prisma, which had been built since the end of 1982. The Dedra was the sister model of the second generation of the Delta, which was built in spring 1993. Dedra and Delta have the same floor pan as the Fiat Tipo, Fiat Tempra and Alfa Romeo 145, Alfa Romeo 146, Alfa Romeo 155 models.
Initially, the Dedra was only available as a notchback sedan from spring 1989 to mid-1994. With the revision in mid-1994, the vehicle was also produced as a station wagon under the name Dedra Station Wagon (SW for short).
The level of standard equipment exceeded what was usual at the time. Lancia claimed to have created a competitor to the Mercedes 190, BMW 3 Series and Audi 80. In practice, however, customers saw the Dedra (also because of the comparatively low purchase price) as an alternative to the VW Golf/Vento, Opel Astra and Ford Escort/Focus.
