SUZUKI LJ80 (OL), 01.1980 - 01.1984

The Suzuki LJ80 is an off-road vehicle built from 1978 to 1982. Kei car class from the Japanese automaker Suzuki.
Originally developed for the Australian Army, the vehicle was first presented in Germany at the 1979 Frankfurt Motor Show. The LJ80 II, a version redesigned for civilian use, was available with a closed steel roof, as a convertible, and with a cargo area; over 15,000 were sold within three years. It was available only with a four-cylinder gasoline engine with 797 cc and 39 hp (41 hp from 1981). In Germany, only the convertible version was offered. The top speed was 107 km/h.
In Germany, the car was marketed under the names Eljot and Jipsy upon its market launch; however, these model names had to be abandoned due to disputes with the owners of the brand names. With this vehicle, Suzuki achieved its international breakthrough as an automobile manufacturer.
One drawback, however, was the vehicle's high susceptibility to rust. In 1982, the LJ was replaced by the Suzuki SJ.
