Spider / GTV (916), 1994 – 2005

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 1994, Alfa Romeo presented a completely new generation of Spider and a closed sister model called the GTV.
Both models have the factory name Tipo 916. They are technically based on the Fiat platform Tipo Due and are therefore related to the Fiat Tipo, the Lancia Delta and the Alfa Romeo 145 as well as their notchback offshoots.
Development work began in the summer of 1987, a few months after Alfa Romeo was taken over by Fiat, and continued until 1993.
