The slatted and Clutch construction August Häussermann was founded in 1927 in Esslingen-Mettingen by August Häussermann. In 1939, his son Kurt became technical director of August Häussermann Lamellen- und Kupplungsbau LuK GmbH, which had since moved to Esslingen. In the mid-1960s, the brothers Wilhelm and Georg Schaeffler became involved.
