AUDI

Audi AG, based in Ingolstadt in Bavaria, is a German car manufacturer that has been part of the Volkswagen Group since the 1960s and has been categorised as a premium manufacturer since the 2000s.
The company was founded when August Horch, following disagreements with the CFO, founded A. Horch & Cie. Motorwagenwerke Zwickau, located in the former Kingdom of Saxony, and had to rename his new August Horch Automobilwerke GmbH, as he no longer owned the rights to the "Horch" brand after leaving the company. He found the solution in the suggestion of Zwickau high school student Heinrich Fikentscher (son of August Horch's friend Franz Fikentscher), who translated Horch into Latin.
Audi is the imperative singular of audire (to hear, to listen) and means "Hear!" or "Horch!". Audi Automobilwerke GmbH Zwickau was entered in the commercial register of the city of Zwickau on 25 April 1910.
